Oils with Belinda Reynell

In this all-day workshop Belinda will show you how to work with Oil Paints to capture the essence of the woods. Her love of trees is imbued with layers of texture and colour.

She will show you how to start a piece and develop it throughout the day to bring drama though sunlight and shadows.

‘I’ll bring plenty of reference photos, but if you’d like to bring your own that is fine as well. Look for wild woodland photos. ‘

Materials

Art materials as follows: Water mixable oils, oils or acrylics (colours I like are cadmium yellow, burnt Sienna, yellow ochre, crimson alizarin, Prussian blue, ultramarine blue, titanium white) but don’t feel you have to go out and buy new colours.

Heavyweight paper suitable for acrylics  (not too coated, some paper suitable for oils doesn’t work that well with this technique, maybe a board or canvas if you like, large sheet size

Palette knives,

Scrapers (I’ll bring plenty)

One brush that is good for splattering,

Jar for water, palette, low tack masking tape, cotton rags,

Board to work on.
