Abstract Creativity with Sally Coulden

This abstract session will explore and put into practice the importance of being able to combine instinct with process. Sally will work with you to help you develop a clear concept, create a mood board for your painting and then lead you step by step through her process of creating abstaction.

She will cover topics such as composition, focal point, mark making, proportion of space, shapes, brush strokes, glazing and tonal colour. We can always throw in a little mixed media too if you are feeling adventurous! We will cover as much as we can!

This approach will draw on your instinct as an artist but will be nestled in process. Sally will demonstrate and lead you though different techniques and then be available to help and have conversations throughout the day. It’s a chance to really let your inner instincts and creativity loose!

Pre work – please bring a canvas that has a base colour already painted (one colour & cover the whole canvas including sides) – if you are feeling brave choose a colour you would not typically use – I often use pyrole red or pale blue as my ground.

The room opens at 9.30am. Session starts at 10:00am.

Location; The Art Rooms, Clevedon School, Valley Rd, BS21
