Michael Long- Vibrant Colour in Landscapes, Acrylic Painting

Michael grew up in Bristol and later trained at the West of England College of Art.  He apprenticed as a designer and reproduction artist leading onto a teaching role at Brunel Technical College.  He later became the Senior Tutor in Graphic Design.  Michael has also worked as a freelance book designer and illustrator, most notably “Mammal Evolution”, published by the Natural History Museum in 1986.

The majority of Michael’s work has consisted of landscapes in oil and acrylics, often in a classical style.  In his more recent work he has concentrated on interpreting landscape slightly differently, drawing out its qualities of colour, form and texture to create bold, visually striking expressionist paintings.

Michael has exhibited widely throughout the West Country and his work is held in a number of collections, including the Charles Hill Marine Collection in Bristol.
