Dick Pope, Abstraction- sources of inspiration

My talk will outline a broad history of Abstraction from its beginning in

the early 20th century until the present day. Additionally, I will select

artists whose work I admire and talk about how their work has influenced me.

I began my working career as a lithographic printer and then trained as a

Secondary School art teacher. I taught for thirty years in Bristol and

completed my career as Head of Art at St Mary Redcliffe and Temple School.

Throughout my teaching period I painted whenever I could find the time.

Since my retirement in 2004 I have painted or drawn almost every day.
