Claire Hall - Glass - Clearly a New Medium

  • Clevedon School Sixth Form Centre Valley Road Clevedon, BS21 6AH United Kingdom

Claire will share her voyage of discovery using glass as a medium to create great artworks. She will explain her techniques and inspiration through examples of her work and demonstrations of the process stages.

Claire runs regular workshops in glass techniques and will bring along details of these for those who would like a hands on experience to follow the presentation.

Claire is also the current Chairman of North Somerset Arts and will talk about the opportunities the organisation gives to get more involved with Art in our area.

She originally trained as a sculptor, working in wood and steel and has an honours degree in Fine Art and a P.G.C.E. in Art, Design and Technology. In 2003 she received an award from the South West Arts Council which enabled her to study with Kate Drew-Wilkinson, a prominent bead artist from America.

It was during her time travelling America, in the early nineties, that she was introduced to working with glass. Claire then spent the next six years learning the art of bead making in the remote mountains of West Virginia.

Claire's design inspiration is drawn from her fascination with landscapes, colour, pattern and texture.

As well as being the Chair of North Somerset Arts, Claire is also a member of the Contemporary Glass Society and The Somerset Guild..
