Ian price invites you to participate in The Portishead Marina Arts Trail Saturday August 5

What: ‘Everyone’s an Artist!’ – Portishead Marina Arts Trail 2017

When: Saturday 5th August 9am-6pm

Where: Hall & Woodhouse, Portishead Marina

Why: Celebrate creativity and community cohesion in Portishead. Raise funds for local causes supporting young people.

Portishead Arts needs your help to make our creative community event a roaring success!

We want at least 30 artists from the North Somerset and greater Bristol area to come to Hall & Woodhouse on 5th Aug to create brand new pieces influenced by our beautiful Marina using materials provided by Portishead Arts. At the same time, we’d like you to support and inspire 20 budding young artists from Portishead’s schools as well as a further 50 super-keen local residents to make their very own art - and you can do that by just coming along and taking part!

The work will be created throughout the day on Saturday 5th August, and will then be hung as an art trail around the Marina on Sunday 6th.

We’ll crowdfund to supply paint, brushes and primed boards, although you are of course more than welcome to bring your own materials - the most important part of this event will be your involvement in this very public attempt to engage the community in making their own art.

We hope the event will also play an important part in showcasing the incredible range of creative talent that we have on our doorsteps in this beautiful corner of the world and inspire the next generation of artists in the town.

Our sponsors, who will contribute £25 each, will be given one of the artworks at random as a memento of this extraordinary event. Any proceeds will be donated to local causes.

As well as the mass ‘paint-off’, Portishead Arts will be giving demonstrations and hosting workshops in a range of media throughout the Saturday. Celebrations will continue on the following day as the first Marina Arts Trail will be open for all to come along and enjoy on Sunday 6th Aug.
