North Somerset Arts is holding an open exhibition in The Old Town Quarry, for the month of April in 2016. Old Town Quarry is an exciting venue in the grand surroundings of old Weston super Mare, with art studios, cafe/gallery and heritage site, all set in a lovely natural environment.
The exhibition will be open with no selection process, artists in all media will be able to enter 2 works for a fee of £10, and up to 3 more works for an extra £5. The first 2 works will be guaranteed to be hung, the next 3 might be hung immediately or used as replacements for sold work. There is a 20% commission on sales.
Bargain! So what's the catch? Well this is where the Challenge comes in. As exhibition space is limited, the exhibition team has come up with the idea of creating grid panels to hang the 2D work on. Each grid panel will hold either 9 or 16 pieces of work depending upon the number of entries. But in order for the grid to work, your 2D work, painting, textile, glass, photography etc must be exactly 20 centimetre by 20 centimetre square including it's frame. 3D artists need not feel left out of the challenge, we ask that their work is no bigger than 20 centimetres in any dimension.
North Somerset Arts has put together an excellent exhibition team of professional artists who frequently exhibit their own work, who will curate and hang the show. We think that the result will be a visually stunning display of your talent, so please start work now and take part.
