The sun shone bright as we eagerly gathered at our various meeting points to climb on-board the special Clevedon Art Club Express to Art in Action at Waterperry Gardens. We arrived in glorious sunshine to be handed free water an suntan spray by the event organisers and after a quick trip to the necessary little portakabins we were off! Well the sensible ones amongst us grabbed a map and had a good study first to make sure we packed as much into our precious few hours as possible. There was so much to see.
Countless demonstrations by Craftspeople and artists as well as plenty of completed artworks on display. And of course after the very necessary stop for lunch, coffee and some food works of art courtesy of some rather fabulous Belgian Waffles, we had the strength to hit the Art Market.
There were bargains to be had all over the marquee. It was hard to know which way to dive first! Armed with increasingly heavy bags we headed off to watch demonstrations in all types of crafts and then on to the relative peace and calm of the Sculpture Garden. The day was drawing to a close all too soon and we headed for our rendezvous with the Coach for the return journey. It was a very interesting journey home - we were treated to the delights of Oxford - it may not have been in the correct direction, but interesting nonetheless!
The Red Arrows even did a fly past in our honour...well from a distance anyway.
We all owe Hilary a huge debt of thanks for organising such a grand day out. We all reached home tired, a few pounds (£) lighter but with heavy bags and lots of great memories and inspiration.'
